DISCOVERY = GROWTH

In Christ, we are already complete. The moment you were born again, your spirit became full-grown, mature, and whole. You don’t need “more” in your spirit — everything you’ll ever need has already been placed there in Christ.

As 1 Corinthians 6:17 says, “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”

So what’s the journey of growth about? It’s about renewing your mind (Romans 12:2). It’s learning to see yourself the way God already sees you. It’s choosing to believe what’s true in your spirit more than what your five senses tell you.

Think of it like this: your spirit is the real you. You have a soul — your mind, will, and emotions — and you live in a body. But the part of you that was made brand new is your spirit. As you discover who you are in Christ, your thinking changes, and that truth begins to shape how you live, feel, and respond.

I love the picture of an oak tree. What’s the difference between a baby oak tree and a 100-year-old oak tree? Nothing in essence — they’re both oak trees. The only difference is maturity.

That’s how it is with us. The moment you’re born again, you’re fully His, fully complete. But as your mind is renewed to what’s already true in your spirit, you mature — becoming like that mighty oak: deeply rooted, strong, and unmovable.

So don’t think of growth as striving to become something you’re not. Growth is simply discovering who you already are in Christ — and letting that truth take root, shaping every part of your life.
